Contribution to Big Data discussion

On the 7th of May, a conference entitled “Is Big Data a New Medium?” was held at Lasalle College of the Arts. I was invited to contribute as a speaker and decided to perform the conversations I had been having with neuroscientist and neuroethologist Prof Suresh Jesuthasan.
The conversation relates to trying to come to grasp with what Big Data is, how it is being used in Science, and how this might be relevant to Arts. We barely touch upon the subject of New Media, reflecting more on how Big Data has been a part of art, although unnamed, for a long time already.
