A Relief Print

Jazz

In July, I ran a workshop for kids at the STPI. I didn’t really produce any art myself, since I was busy taking care of the workshop. The idea for the workshop was to use images that Matisse created for his book “Jazz” and print 8 of them, at once, on a large paper that could later be folded into a book.

The challenge was to produce 8 (we managed 6) full-colour copies of the 8-page book in 3 hours. I had prepared the shapes (equivalent to Matisse’s stencils) in advance. The unfolded book is presented above. Images of the whole process can be viewed here.
